Honouring the decision of the Saudi Arabia Government in view of serious challenges of Corona pandemic and keeping in mind the health and well-being of the people, it has been decided that Muslims from India will not go to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj. 2 lakh 13,000 applications had been received for Haj 2020. The process has been started today to immediately refund full amount of money deposited by the applicants without any deduction.
Meeting with Secretary and Joint Secretaries of Ministry of Minority Affairs at Antyodaya Bhawan in New Delhi, reviewed various scholarships, skill development schemes and other development programmes so that benefits of these schemes reach to the needy during the challenges of Corona pandemic.
Governing Body meeting of Maulana Azad Education Foundation was held through video conferencing in New Delhi. Different educational, employment oriented skill development programmes and bridge courses were discussed in detail and future course of action was decided. It was decided in the meeting to carry forward the employment oriented training of Health Assistant and Hospitality Facilitator and other educational programmes according to the current needs.
Interacted with Chairmen & senior officials of more than 30 state waqf boards through video conferencing, directed them to ensure strict implementation of lockdown & social distancing during holy month of Ramadan, which will be started from 24th April, in view of Corona pandemic. All the state waqf boards expressed need to work united to create awareness among people that instead of mosques, Eidgah and other religious-social places, they should offer prayers and perform other religious rituals during holy month of Ramadan staying inside their home.
