Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), 11 Jan, 2017:Today signed bilateral agreement for Haj 2017 between India-Saudi Arabia with Haj Minister of Saudi Arabia H.E. Dr Mohammad Saleh Benten at Jeddah. Its a matter of pleasure that Saudi Arabia Haj increased India's Haj quota by about 34,000.Fruitful discussion was held with H.E. Dr Mohammad Saleh Benten on whole gamut of issues related to Indian Haj pilgrims.

Haj application process is going to be digital. People will get opportunity for pilgrimage with complete transparency. In an effort to encourage online application for Haj, launched Haj Committee of India Mobile App at Haj House in Mumbai today. Haj 2017 has already been announced. Application will be accepted from January 2. Last date for submitting applications is January 24. Applying for Haj, inquiry and information, news and updates and e payment are main features of Haj Committee of India Mobile App.

About the Ministry
The Ministry of Minority Affairs was carved out of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and created on 29th January, 2006 to ensure a more focused approach towards issues relating to the notified minority communities namely Muslim, Christian, Budhist, Sikhs, Parsis and Jain. The mandate of the Ministry includes formulation of overall policy and planning, coordination, evaluation and review of the regulatory framework and development programmes for the benefit of the minority communities.
Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has assumed the office as a Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Minority Affairs on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in New Delhi.
Shri Ameising Luikham is the Secretary of the Ministry. The Secretary is assisted by Four Joint Secretaries and a Joint Secretary & Financial Adviser (additional charge). The Ministry has a sanctioned strength of 98 Officers/Staff.
